1. Windsor Castle The Windsor Castle was built between 1190-1220 AD. It was originally a fortress and then became a royal residence. In 1337, Edward III ordered the construction of a great hall and banqueting house. By 1460, Henry VI had added a chapel and a tower. After 1530, Henry VIII began building a western wing.
